Une nouvelle alliance pour la mémoire vivante du Festival de Jazz de Montreux présentée au workshop le 15 juillet

L’Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) et Montreux Sounds SA ont décidé de joindre leurs forces afin de créer une archive en super haute définition – soit au moins quatre fois supérieure à celle de la HDTV (télévision à haute définition).

Cette nouvelle entreprise sera présentée lors du workshop qui aura lieu le 15 juillet au Petit Palais (en face du Montreux Palace), à 17h00.

"When past becomes future" Multimedia Workshop on the 15th July

Montreux Sounds and EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) have joined forces to create a first of a kind digital archive in super high definition, at least four times higher resolution when compared to HDTV (High Definition TV).

This new venture will be presented during the Multimedia Workshop "When past becomes future" on: Sunday, July 15th, 2007, at 5pm, at the Petit Palais (across from the Montreux Palace Hotel)

Montreux’s bust collection keeps on growing. After Nabokov, B.B. King and Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald joins the male circle. The First Lady of Song’s bust was offered to Claude Nobs by Barbara J Riley during its inauguration today. For Claude, it’s very important stars that marked the festival are eternally present in the place they helped to make famous.

The festival is of course a place where old friends meet. Famous Swiss Chef, Frédy Girardet is one of them, and he came especially to deliver some delicious tastes...

The Beastie Boys at the chalet before their second concert... They saw their performance of the previous day on the big screen and like many artists, had a hard time watching themselves, so they left after 5 minutes!

 

Marche pour le Darfour à Montreux

Le 41ème festival s’entame avec une marche de soutien aux victimes du conflit du Darfour, organisé par Youssou N’Dour. Quelques 1000 personnes ont défilé sur les quais de Montreux en criant « Darfour ça suffit ». Parmi la foule comptait Jean Ziegler, Claude Nobs, le syndic de Montreux, Laurent Wehrli, Ismaël Lo ainsi que l’ex de George Clooney.

Exposition: 40 years of the Montreux Jazz Festival at the Casino

The Casino Barrière in Montreux opened its doors to the exposition of the 40 years of the Montreux Jazz Festival.  Here you can see the original posters of the festival since its first edition in 1967 as well as great pictures of artists. You'll also find pictures of some mythical moments of the festival and the instruments offered to Claude Nobs by musicians, like a guitare from Carlos Santana.

Le Montreux Jazz Festival
Créé en 1967 par Claude Nobs, le Montreux Jazz Festival est devenu au fil des ans un point de ralliement incontournable pour les amateurs de musique, de Suisse comme de l’étranger. Sur ses différentes scènes, tous les plus grands ont défilés, de Miles Davis à Ray Charles, en passant par David Bowie ou Massive Attack. Si le jazz constitue la source historique du Festival, très vite les autres styles de musique ont trouvé leur place, avec comme point commun une curiosité et un enthousiasme vers l’autre. Cultivant sa particularité par ses choix de programmation ambitieux, le Montreux Jazz Festival offre deux semaines durant une plateforme idéale aux musiciens, dans un cadre intimiste.
